Today, reliable high-speed internet lets him work as an engineering consultant on projects across the country, all from the comfort of their rural property. Big responsibility, meaningful work, and zero big-city commute.

Shannon, meanwhile, is busy following curiosity wherever it leads. That might look like running a commercial sourdough bread operation, keeping bees, tending a sustenance garden, or breaking into song—she has a beautiful singing voice and an even better laugh, especially when plans take an unexpected turn.

Together, they’ve built—and are continuing to build—their ideal home: a place shaped by intention, creativity, and room to grow. With nature right out the front door, life spills easily outside.

Their three sons are proof of that freedom. One is deep into freestyle skiing—the big stuff: massive jumps, inverted airs, rails, boxes, and real risk. Another is a competitive rodeo cowboy with a dream of ranching. The third? Still deciding. In the Cariboo, it could be anything.
