Meet Daniel & Neale

Entrepreneurs. Neighbours. Proudly a little Viking about it.

Daniel and Neale aren’t afraid of hard work — in fact, they seem to thrive on it. These two are energized by building something of their own: Cask & Cleaver, a microbrewery and restaurant in 100 Mile House, rooted in great food, cold drinks, and the kind of lifestyle that doesn’t involve sitting in traffic.

Daniel made the move from the Lower Mainland for the pace of life the Cariboo offers — and in 2021, he and his partner bought their dream home and never looked back.

Then came the housewarming party.

Neale, a friend from the Lower Mainland, showed up, took one look around at the trees, the quiet, and the sheer amount of space… and bought the house next door within six months.

That’s a very Cariboo thing to do.

Their spouses found work in the welcoming community, and the four of them have fully embraced life without commutes, congestion, or the constant hustle of urban sprawl. Here, the end of the day looks a little different: unwinding with a cold drink, surrounded by forest and calm.

But the real celebration happens at Cask & Cleaver.

Daniel and Neale have turned their business into a gathering place — hosting summer outdoor events with serious Cariboo character: great beer, great food, ice cream, and even Viking-style axe-throwing competitions (the inflatable kind… mostly for bragging rights).

They also partner with local fishing guides to prepare lunches for days out on the river — a perfect example of how entrepreneurship here is woven into community.

Daniel and Neale didn’t just move to the Cariboo. They built something here — a business, a life, and a place where people come together.

Cariboo. It’s true.
